Savior A Perfect Love Story Excerpt 💕

Hi Friends!

I want to share an excerpt from my book, Savior: A Perfect Love Story, with you. In this scene, Joshua and Kerrington go on a date and discuss their dating boundaries, waiting to have sex before marriage, and the things they want in a spouse.

I believe it will bless your life!

I hope you enjoy it:

Joshua

As I sipped my drink, I stared at Kerrington.

My God, she was gorgeous.

Every part of me wanted to brand her as mine. I wanted her more than any woman I ever dated.

And I found my desire for her growing with each passing moment I spent with her. Being this close to her tested my self-control in ways that had never tested it before.

The scent of her perfume and her softness drew me in when I leaned in to wipe her mouth.

And even though she was inexperienced with relationships, she was still a little temptress. Bringing her lips that close to mine was dangerous, and she didn’t even know it. I wanted to kiss her.

It took great strength and control for me to pull back when she leaned in to kiss me.

But, if I kissed her, I knew that my desire for her would lead us down a sexual path that neither one of us needed to go down right now.

So, I pulled back. I didn’t want to awaken love between us too soon. She deserved more, and so did I.

I wanted Kerrington as my wife, and I wanted to do it the right way. First, we would date, then we would get married, and then we would explore our sexual desires as husband and wife.

That was my plan and I was sticking to it.

Looking away from her, I set my glass down and reached into the basket to pull out our dessert.

Someone told me that she loved the chocolate cake from the Chocolate Bar, so I went there to grab a few slices before picking her up for our date.

When Kerrington saw me pull out the cake and two forks, she smiled, and my heart skipped a beat.

Her smile was as dazzling and bright as the sun whenever she looked at me.

“Oh, my goodness. This chocolate cake is my favorite. How did you know?” She asked.

I gave her a look.

“Let me guess. You pay attention to the things that I say.”

I smiled. “That’s right. Now, you’re getting the hang of this.”

She chuckled. “Joshua, you’re too much. What am I going to do with you?”

“Hmm. I can think of a few things. But, right now, I want you to help me eat this chocolate cake.” I said.

She smiled. “I can definitely do that.”

“Great.”

Smiling, I handed her a fork. As we ate, Kerrington ate one side of the cake, and I ate the other side until we met in the middle.

After we finished the cake, I put the empty container back inside the basket and set it to the side.

Taking Kerrington’s hand in mine, I moved her into my lap as we relaxed on the blanket together and looked up into the sky.

She leaned her head back on me as we talked. “Are you sure your sisters liked me when they met me?”

“Yeah. Why do you keep asking me that?”

She shrugged. “I know how protective sisters can be of their brothers, especially toward the women they date.”

I laughed. “So, you’re telling me you gave Kasen’s girlfriends a hard time?”

“Oh, yeah. Do your sisters give your girlfriends a hard time?”

I shrugged. “Sometimes.”

“Do you give your sister’s boyfriends a hard time?” She asked.

“Of course, I do. That’s my duty as their older brother.”

She laughed. “Kasen did the same thing when Kadence and I were growing up.”

“Then, he’s a good big brother. I respect that.”

She nodded. “He is.”

She paused. “So, I have a question for you. If a woman doesn’t get along with your family, is that a deal-breaker for you?”

I nodded. “It is. The woman I’m with has to love my family as her own. How about you?”

“Yes. My family is very important to me. We are very close. So, I want the person I’m with to get along with them and love them.”

“Well, I hope your family likes me,” I said.

“They do. The only person you haven’t met is Kasen, and I’m sure he will like you too.”

“Hmm. I look forward to meeting him.”

“I’ll make sure you meet him when he returns home.”

“Great.”

I kissed her cheek. Then, I brushed my lips across her ear and the edge of her jaw, kissing her there.

She sighed with pleasure as she leaned into my touch. But I only let my mouth linger there momentarily before pulling away.

“I have a question for you. Do you see yourself getting married?” I asked, changing the subject.

“Of course.”

“What do you want out of a marriage and a husband?”

“I want a husband with whom I can build a legacy. I want a relationship where we love each other unconditionally and support each other in every part of our lives. I want a marriage that has a foundation built on God.”

I nodded, liking her answer.

“How about you? What do you want?” She asked.

“I want those same things too. Do you want children?” I asked her.

“Yes.”

“How many?” I asked.

“Three. Two boys and a girl. How about you?” She asked.

“I want three children also. But, I don’t care if they are boys or girls, as long as they’re healthy.”

She nodded. “That’s cool.”

As Kerrington and I continued talking, I discovered we wanted the same things out of life, which was a great sign. We had a lot in common.

But I wanted to know more about her sexual experience. I knew that she’d never been in a relationship, but I wanted to see if she’d ever had sex. I had a feeling that she hadn’t, but I wanted to know for sure.

“So, can I ask you a personal question?” I asked.

She smiled up at me. “Sure. You can ask me anything.”

“Have you ever had sex before?”

She paused. “No. And I don’t plan on having sex until I get married. I only want to have sex with my husband.”

I nodded, feeling relieved and impressed. I always wanted my wife to be a virgin. I wanted to be the only man to make love to her. I wanted us to explore sex together.

“That’s good. I like that.” I told her.

“Really? I know a lot of men nowadays prefer women who are experienced with sex.” She said.

I shook my head. “Not me. I want a woman who is mine and mine alone.”

She smiled. “I’m glad to hear that.”

She paused. “You know, my original goal was to wait until I had a ring on my finger to have my first kiss. But I failed at that goal when I had my first kiss a year ago.”

“I wouldn’t consider that a failure. It’s impressive to wait until you are thirty for your first kiss. That takes dedication and conviction. I had my first kiss way before the age of thirty.”

She smiled. “It wasn’t hard to wait because I didn’t date much growing up or in college.”

“Hmm. I know that you’ve told me that before. But I find that hard to believe since you’re such a gorgeous woman. Why didn’t you date a lot when you were younger?” I asked.

She shrugged. “I never had a lot of men ask me out or approach me.”

I gave her a look. “Come on, Kerrington. I find that hard to believe. You’re gorgeous.”

“It’s the truth. Honestly, I wasn’t always this cute. I think I became prettier as I got older.” She said.

“I’m sure you were beautiful at every stage of your life.”

“I wasn’t. I peaked later in life. But that’s okay. I’m embracing it.”

“You’ve embraced it well. So, when you say you’re waiting to kiss until you have a ring on your finger, do you mean an engagement or a wedding ring?”

“I am coming from an aspect of commitment. So, when my future husband and I get engaged, I will kiss him. But he and I aren’t having sex until our wedding night.”

“Hmm. So, when you say sex, do you mean everything?” I asked, testing her.

“Yes. No sex or sexual acts until we are married. Are you okay with that?”

“Yes. I’m very cool with that. I actually want that.”

She looked at me. “So, you’re okay dating a thirty-year-old virgin?”

“Yes. I love that I’m dating a woman willing to wait and save her body as a gift to her husband. That’s very sexy to me.”

She lifted a brow. “Sexy? You don’t think it’s weird?”

“No. I don’t think it’s weird at all. I want a wife who has never been with another man. I want to be my wife’s only lover. I want her and me to experience lovemaking together. Learning each other’s body and what pleases us together will be fun and thrilling.”

“Hmm. Okay, Mr. Creed.”

I smiled. “Kerrington, you’re an answered prayer that I didn’t even know to pray. Before I reconnected with you, I wondered if women like you still existed. I met a lot of women with low morals who were having sex with man after man. People's expectations nowadays are pretty low. So, I’m happy to know that you exist.”

She smiled before turning to kiss my cheek. “Thank you, J. Before you, I was wondering the same thing about men. I’m glad that you exist.”

“You are a special woman, Kerrington. Very special. And I’ll never take you for granted.” I told her.

“I won’t take you for granted either.”

As we continued talking, I better understood who Kerrington was.

And I was even more taken with her than before. Now that I knew the amount of discipline and self-control that she had within her, I was impressed. Her godly spirit connected with mine.

I liked that we were both doing our best to live our lives in a way that pleased God.

I knew she wasn’t perfect, but my God, she was perfect for me.

Not only was I enchanted by her beauty, but her soul enchanted me. It wouldn’t be much longer until I made her my wife. Kerrington was the one for me, and I knew it from the first moment I saw her.

As we continued to sit there, she brushed several strands of her windblown hair out of her face, unaware of how gorgeous she looked to me.

Moving closer to her, I kissed her cheek. Smiling, she leaned against me, and I kissed her again.

Setting her out of my lap, I laid on the blanket and moved her beside me. As I wrapped my arm around her waist, she settled her head against my chest.

I looked up into the dark, star-studded sky, relishing in its beauty.

I felt a contentment that I’d never experienced before with Kerrington beside me. I felt peace and serenity, and I didn’t want to move. I wanted her by my side forever.

“God is so amazing.” She whispered, interrupting my thoughts.

“Yes, he is.”

Turning to her, I watched as she gazed up at the sky. There was nothing like looking at the woman I was falling in love with under the soft glow of the moonlight. She took my breath away.

She was absolutely breathtaking.

Smiling, Kerrington turned to me. “What are you doing?”

“Looking at you,” I said.

“Why? I’m not nearly as interesting as the stars.”

“To me, you are,” I said.

Using my hand, I caressed the side of her face. Closing her eyes, she seemed to relish in my touch.

“Tell me something that I don’t know.” She whispered.

“Do you know about the stars and constellations?”

“No. Not really.”

“Okay. Let me teach you.”

Using my finger, I pointed out the stars and their names to her.

“Look, there’s the big dipper and the little dipper. Do you see it?” I asked.

“Yes, I do. I think. Can you show me again just to be sure?”

I smiled. “Of course.”

Using my finger, I slowly outlined them for her again.

“Oh, I see it!” She said excitedly. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Look over there. There’s Orion’s belt and the Pleiades.” I said.

“Oh my goodness, I read about those in the book of Job.”

I smiled. “Yep, that’s right. And that bright star over there is Sirius. It’s the brightest star of them all.”

“Oh my goodness, It’s so beautiful.” She said with wonderment in her voice.

I glanced at her. “It is. But, not as beautiful as you.”

She gave me a shy smile.  “Aww. Thank you, J. That’s sweet.”

“You’re very welcome, gorgeous.”

As we stared at each other, I looked into the depths of her gaze, taking in her wide-eyed look of innocence, wanting her in every way that a man wants a woman. I wanted to teach her everything I knew about love and love her right.

Lowering my face, I kissed the top of her head. The sweet fragrance of her perfume teased my nostrils as she turned her body more toward me.

Moving closer to me, she cradled her legs between mine as she partially laid on top of me.

Leaning up, she kissed my cheek before moving her mouth to my neck.

She buried her face in my neck as she placed soft kisses there.

I tightened my hold on her body as I felt my desire for her rise.

Moving my hands lower, I cupped her hips. I was about to move her fully on top of me. But a still, small voice stopped me. Son, don’t awaken love before it’s too soon.

Immediately, I sat up and moved away from her.

“I think that we should go. It’s late, and I should get you home.” I said.

“Are you sure?” She asked, sitting up.

“Yeah. I’m positive.”

She nodded. “Okay.”

Standing up, I folded the blanket, grabbed the basket, and headed back to my truck with Kerrington in tow.

As we walked, I linked her hand with mine, intertwining them together.

I felt closer to Kerrington now more than ever.

Tonight, we shared an intimacy underneath the stars that affected me.

Now that I knew she wanted to wait to kiss, I would ensure that I helped her keep that promise, no matter how hard it was. I wasn’t going to kiss her on the lips until after we were engaged.

Leaving the place, I drove Kerrington home.

Pulling up to her house, I helped her out of my truck and walked her to the door.

But I didn’t let her go in right away when she unlocked the door.

Softly placing my hand on her wrist, I stopped her.

“Kerrington, I had a great time with you this evening. Thank you for tonight.”

She smiled. “I enjoyed it too. This was one of the best dates I’ve ever been on.”

“Me too. I want to see you again soon.”

“I want to see you too.”

“I come back from out of town in a week. Do you have time in your schedule for us to go out?”

“Joshua, for you, I’ll make time.”

Her answer pleased me.

I couldn’t keep my eyes off her as she stood before me.

She looked up at me, practically begging me to take her into my arms and kiss her. I almost complied, wanting the same thing. But I couldn’t break the promise that she made to herself. So, I stepped back.

“Good night, Kerrington.”

“Good night, superstar. Don’t forget to text me when you get home.”

“I won’t.”

Leaning down, I kissed her cheek, and she kissed mine back.

“Now, go inside so that I can ensure you’re safe before I leave.” I softly commanded.

She smiled. “Okay. I’m going.”

“Hurry up,” I said teasingly.

She looked back at me over her shoulder. “Don’t rush me, J.”

I smiled at her.

Once she was safely inside, I got into my truck and left.

I drove home feeling victorious. I knew that the search was over.

I had found the one that my heart loves.

Kerrington Moreau would soon be mine.

I wasn’t letting her go.
