Hi Friends,
I hope and pray life is treating you well!
As y'all know, I love God and "love stories."
One of my favorite love stories in the Bible is Isaac and Rebekah. Their story can be found in Genesis 24.
In this story, Abraham is old and sends his servant to find a wife for his son, Isaac.
Abraham didn't want Isaac to marry a woman from where they were living. He wanted Isaac to marry a woman who came from his country. So he sent his servant back to his homeland to find a wife for Isaac and told him that the angel of God would go before him to get a wife for his son.
So the servant left and took his men, camels, and tons of gifts with him. Once he reached the country, he, his men, and the camels stopped by a well to rest and get water.
While there, Abraham's servant prayed a specific prayer to help him identify a wife for Isaac.
"God of my master Abraham, make me successful today and show kindness to my master Abraham. I am standing beside this well, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. May it be that when I say to a young woman, please let down your jar so that I may have a drink, she says, "I'll water your camels too. Let her be the one you have chosen for Isaac. By this, I will know you have shown kindness to my master Abraham."
Before the servant even finished praying, Rebekah came out with a jar. The servant quickly went to meet her and asked her for water from your jar. Rebekah not only gave him water but also gave water to his camels.
As Rebekah drew water for the camels, the servant watched her closely to determine whether God had made his journey successful.
When he saw that God had made him successful, he gave Rebekah some of the gifts he had bought and asked her to tell him who she was and about her family. Then, the servant bowed down and worshiped God.
"Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master."
After this, Rebekah took the servant and his men to her father's house to meet her family. They welcomed the servant and his men into their house. The servant told them about his master Abraham and how God had blessed him abundantly with great wealth. He also told them that Abraham sent him to find a wife for his son Isaac and that Rebekah was that woman from his prayer to God.
When Rebekah's family heard this, they told him to take Rebekah and let her become Isaac's wife as God directed. When the servant heard this, he bowed down and worshiped God again. Then, he gave Rebekah's family the rest of the gifts that he brought with him.
The next morning, Rebekah said goodbye to her family, and they blessed her: "Our sister, may you increase to thousands upon thousands; may your offspring possess the cities of their enemies."
Then Rebekah left and went with Abraham's servant and his men.
When they arrived in Canaan, Isaac was meditating in the field. When he looked up, he saw Rebekah approaching him.
When she saw him, she asked the servant who he was, and the servant told her that he was Isaac. After hearing this, she covered herself with a veil.
When the servant tells Isaac all about what happened, Isaac marries Rebekah, and she becomes his wife.
The Bible says Isaac loved her, and Rebekah comforted him after his mother's death.
Isaac was forty years old when he got married.
What an incredible story!
Their story teaches us about faith, the importance of prayer, and trusting God's timing.
In this story, I love how God worked behind the scenes to bring Isaac and Rebekah together with the help of Abraham and Abraham's servant. Rebekah and Isaac were living their lives and didn't even know that the other existed before God brought them together. I also love how Abraham's servant prayed for God to give him success and lead him to the right woman for Isaac. Prayer is so important, and we should ask God to give us success and lead us to the right people who belong in our lives.
In essence, my friends, we don't have to go searching for love or relationships. God can do anything, and he will bring the right people into our lives at the right time. God is always working behind the scenes in our lives and bringing everything together.
My friends, I hope this story richly blessed your life. I encourage you to read it in its entirety in your own time.
XO,
Dr. Rich 💋
