Hi Friends!

Today, we’re going to discuss Caleb.

I find Caleb to be one of the most inspiring men in the Old Testament.

He was a man of great faith and trust in God.

Caleb was a part of the Israelite tribe of Judah.

He was one of the leaders of his tribe. He was trustworthy and a man who followed God wholeheartedly.

He was one of the other eleven spies who went out with Joshua to spy out the land that God had promised to give to the Israelites.

He was 40 years old when this happened.

Unlike the other ten spies who scoped out the land, he gave a good report along with Joshua about the promised land.

He trusted God and the promises God made to them.

Because Caleb had Faith in God and trusted His promises, God blessed him with the promise of seeing the promised land and with taking the land that God gave him and his family as an inheritance.

In Numbers 14:24, God said this about Caleb, “Because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.”

Because of the other Israelites’ unbelief in God, Caleb had to wait 40 years for God’s promises to come to fruition in his life.

At eighty-five years old, he took the land that was promised to him by God.

In Joshua 14:6-13, Caleb says this, “I was forty years old when Moses sent me to explore the land. And I brought him back a good report, but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed God wholeheartedly. So on that day, Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly. Now, just as God promised, He has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses. I am today eighty-five years old!  I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out. I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. Now give me this land the Lord promised me that day. With the Lord’s help, I will drive the occupants out, just as he said. Then Joshua blessed Caleb and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.”

Caleb refused to be influenced by the negative people around him. He was willing to take a stand for what was right, even though it was unpopular. The crowd was wrong, and Caleb was right. That’s why he was able to be blessed by God.

Numbers 13:26-33 says, “The spies came back to Moses, Aaron, and the whole Israelite community and reported to them.

They said, “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored.

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”

Caleb remained faithful and steadfast! He had unwavering faith!

He had to wait 45 years to see his blessing come through, even though it wasn’t his fault!

He went through the same suffering and hardships in the wilderness as the Israelites who didn’t believe God. But he didn’t give up, complain, or murmur.

He endured the pain until it was time for God to bring his blessing to fruition.

His faith and vigor did not change over the course of his lifetime.

The Israelites allowed fear to keep them from the land God promised them. Instead of focusing on God and having Faith that He would give them the land he promised them. They focused on the people and giants occupying the land and got scared. Their fear was bigger than their Faith in God.

And because of that and their unbelief, God did not allow them to enter into the promised land. Instead, they died off in the wilderness. The only people who were allowed to enter the promised land were Caleb, Joshua, and the new generation born in the wilderness, not the old generation who didn’t believe. They died in the wilderness.

Caleb had a heart for God.

He was not going to let anyone stop him from getting what God promised him!

I pray that we all have faith in God and a faithful spirit like Caleb.

Well, that’s all I have for now!

Until next time, happy reading!
