Song: The Battle is the LordāsĀ by Yolanda Adams
Life can be challenging sometimes, especially when dealing with people.Ā
How do you respond when someone attacks you? Do you try to fight your opponent back? Or do you seek God and let him fight for you?
In my life, IāveĀ learned that you donātĀ have to fight back or be mean to the people who oppose you.Ā
The best thing you can do is let God handle them and fight your battles for you.Ā
One of my favorite scriptures is Exodus 14:14, which says,Ā āThe Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.ā
I believe the meaning of this scripture is embodied in the story of Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20.Ā
Jehoshaphat was a king of Judah.Ā
In this scripture, three groups gathered in a huge army and went to war against Jehoshaphat.Ā
When Jehoshaphat heard about this, he was alarmed and ordered all of his people to fast and pray to God for help.Ā
Then Jehoshaphat himself stood among his people and prayed to God, asking God to save them.Ā
After Jehoshaphat finished praying, the Spirit of the Lord came on a man named Jahaziel, and he spoke, saying,Ā āDonātĀ be afraid because of this large army. The battle is not yours. ItāsĀ the Lordās. You will not have to fight this battle. You will see how the Lord will save you.ā
After Jehoshaphat heard this, he bowed down and worshiped God, and then his people followed him and did the same thing.Ā
The next morning, when they got up to go to battle, Jehoshaphat appointed men to go out before their army and lead the people in praise and worship to God.Ā
Then, the Lord had the three groups of people who came against King Jehoshaphat turn on each other. They destroyed each other!
When King Jehoshaphat and his men went to battle, all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground.Ā
So they went down and plundered all of their opponents'Ā valuables, including their clothes and supplies. There were so many things that it took them three days to collect them all.Ā
When Jehoshaphat and his men finished, they praised God and returned to Jerusalem filled with joy. God made them happy because all of their enemies were dead.Ā
When all of the kingdoms surrounding them
learned how God had fought against their enemies, they gained respect for God, and God gave JehoshaphatāsĀ kingdom peace on all sides.Ā
What an incredible story!
This tells us that we need not worry or be afraid of the people who oppose us.Ā
We donātĀ have to be mean or fight against our enemies.Ā
All we have to do is give them over to God, and he will fight our battles for us or show us how to handle them.Ā
LetāsĀ pray!
Dear God,
Thank you for fighting my battles for me. Let me turn to you when I face trouble and not just depend on myself. Please give me wisdom on how to deal with people who come against me. Please go before me and defeat those who come against me. Please help me to love my enemies and treat them right despite what they do to me.
In Jesus name, I pray,
AmenĀ
Until next time, may God Richly bless you!
XO,
Dr. Rich š
